I have loved drawing and painting since I was a child so it seemed a logical career choice.After a year's Foundation at Middlesbrough, under the influence of the mighty Joe Cole, I went on to get a degree in Textiles and Fashion at Winchester. I worked for several years in the fashion business in London before moving back to my roots in North Yorkshire. For a number of years I worked with an excellent agent who sold my Furnishing Fabric designs in America whilst I continued to draw and paint for my own pleasure. After my agent retired I found I was spending more and more time painting, until it took over completely.
Naturally enough the basis for my work is the wild and beautiful heather moors that surround me, with the windswept trees often the focus of my attention. I am also inspired by the rugged beauty of the coast and the objects found while out on my travels and there is,of course, always time to do portraits of the cows and sheep that live nearby. I cannot think of a better way to make a living and hope you will enjoy seeing the results.
